The government has announced several projects to boost Mumbai’s security infrastructure and also improve the state’s overall crime detection and crime fighting capabilities.
CCTV PROJECT, PHASE 2 The project will be taken up for security and crime prevention in Mumbai.
5,837 new close circuit television (CCTV) cameras expected by the end of December.
5,000 CCTV cameras currently make the city’s surveillance system.
CYBER SECURITYThe Maharashtra Cyber Security Project will be implemented to curb growing cybercrime.
Rs 900 crore project planned to come up at Mahape, Navi Mumbai. Originally approved in 2016 by then chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.
FORENSIC LABSThe Directorate of Forensic Scientific Lab will be strengthened for investigation of crime and enhancement of conviction rate. A Forensic Science College will be established to ensure more resources State-of-the-art forensic mobile units will be set up at 45 places in the state.

PRISONSTwo modern prisons planned to reduce pressure on existing prisons. A fully equipped juvenile home for 500 inmates is proposed at Deonar-Mankhurd.
